[NHL] CH - This Sucks
I've been bad and not really been on LJ for a while, sorry flist. Just dealing with some personal bs and all that jazz. But I had a really confusing day and wanted to write it down, if only so I can examine it later.

Long story. Not for kiddies )

Why must I be gone for all the good things?!?

I'm thrilled because the Stars signed Toby Petersen (my boy!!!) to a two year one way contract and the Brahmas signed Lance Galbraith, who I've been following on Steelheads, for this next season.

Grrr. I'm going to have to save some serious cash and vacation days so I can fly back home to see them play next season. Still, yay!! lol

[NHL] WC - don't stop believing
I am here to totally apologize for all my bitching and complaining about having to mail out 40 thousand graduation announcements.

I've only received 4 replies and my total is already $170 (and one person didn't even send anything)!!

I'm getting a new iPod!!!! I was going to wait until after Christmas, when I have a better source of income, because my old one still works fine, it's just full. But apparently people are really impressed that I managed to pass my Senior year (the key is to keep 'em guessing). Anyway, I'm really excited since I haven't been able to add any music for a while and I was hoping my amazing flist could recommend some good music.

Your Mission:

5 Songs Everyone Should Have
1 CD Everyone Should Hear
1 Band You Love
7th-Jun-2008 08:56 pm - I love the U.S Postal Service
[Dr.Horrible's] Captain Hammer
So I've been stalking my postal carrier for about a week because I ordered a couple of books from Alibris and my step-dad's Father's Day gift from Amazon and today some of the books finally arrived!!!!! (And the gift, but that's not as exciting.)

I'm still waiting for three books, but I'm really excited these came first.

Dipatches from the Edge:A Memoir of War, Disasters, and Survival by Anderson Cooper

See, I can be nerdy and girly at the same time, because he's just too adorable.

And of slight interest to my flist,

Open Net by George Plimpton

It's the first hockey book I've read in a while, so I'm interested to see how good it is. Dryden's book is still my favorite ever (of any genre), so it has stiff competition.

By the way, anyone on flist who has access to CBS and doesn't know who Craig Ferguson is: Watch the Late Show! I swear you will completely shocked and attacked by random giggles just watching him. He's the best thing to happen to late night TV since Johnny Carson.

oh my god.

I totally forgot about Downs.

Aaron Downey has won a Stanley Cup.

mwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

oh I am so happy Detroit won.

WHEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Of course now I feel horrible for forgetting my favorite little tough guy played for Detroit. lol I'm a bad bad person.

Dow-ney! Dow-ney! Dow-ney!

Diesel is the nicest guy ever. I'm so happy he got his Cup!
[NHL] PP - Walk Away
The Wings won. yay? I didn't watch, but I guess I'm happy the Pens lost just so I didn't have to hear about Crosby for the rest of the summer. When they were bad, I didn't mind it, but now, eh, there are 29 other teams in the league. How about talking about the Caps or the Stars, or even LA, once in a while? And really, it's not like the Wings fans can get any worse; they're already arrogant and obnoxious. We're just used to it. But if the Pens had won. *eyeroll* Oh well. Points to Fleury though, he's improved dramatically from his rookie year.

No more hockey. We've still got some drama though. July 1st starts free agency. And we've still got the clusterfuck that is the AHL to figure out, with everyone switching affiliates and teams changing names. Should be mildly entertaining.

In Dallas we've got the most entertaining GM in the business, so I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk about. Washington's got a few things to work out. And Ollie, well that's another thing entirely to keep our eyes on.

All and all, things worked out okay for the league this year. They got the match-up they wanted and it turned out to be a nicely storyline for the press. No sweep, which I have to guess is good for TV ratings. Plenty of blood, plenty of dirty plays, and of course, the refs threw the rulebook out once again.

2007-2008 was a good season. 2008-2009 should be even better.
3rd-Jun-2008 10:09 pm - Black Guy: FTW and a Meme
[Dr.Horrible's] Captain Hammer
So I really try to stay away from politics and religion because if you wanted to hear/read it, you'd have asked, right? Plus, a few of you are in different countries so you're not really interested.

Well, this one time, I'm going to break my own rule and talk politics.

If you're interested... )

And a music meme. :D
